J.J. Putz’s option is for $9.1 million, not $8.6 million as it’s been stated in some places. Putz had a $500,000 escalator clause based on his performance with the Mariners before getting traded to the Mets. No way the Mets can consider bringing him back at either salary. And I’m sure Putz wants to close somewhere. Some team probably gets good value on a one-year deal with incentives for Putz, who can reestablish he’s healthy and set up a big deal next offseason. Considering Jeremy Reed should be nontendered, the lone player left with the Mets in 2010 after parting with seven players in the three-team trade may very well be Sean Green. source Daily News
