It was reported earlier today that the Mets are expressing interest in Alex Cora. Nick Punto has signed with the Twins so it appears that Omar is looking at Cora a very similar player...
The 33 y/o left handed hitter who plays mostly 2B/SS but has had some experience at 3B and the outfield. He is a lifetime .313 /.348 /.245 hitter.
The Mets have set their sites on free agent Alex Cora to serve as the understudy for Jose Reyes. Cora would fill a role that has been mostly vacant in a traditional sense since Reyes arrived in the big leagues in 2003 and through the unsuccessful Kaz Matsui experiment. source MLB.com
