2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Garland & Manny to Flushing ?

MLBTR breaks down John Perrotto of Baseball Prospectus ( subscription req.) Sunday article on the hot stove. According to the post as far as free agents the Mets are interested in Jon Garland and could get involved in the Manny Ramirez sweepstakes. If Manny ends up only costing two years then I believe he would be worth the risk, it's the long term deal that scares me. As far as trades the Mets are still looking at Vazquez but now that the Braves are out of the Peavy deal they could jump in on him. The Tampa starters will cost more then Aaron Heilman.

The Mets are considering Jon Garland, Vazquez, Edwin Jackson, Andy Sonnanstine. The Rays want more than Aaron Heilman for either of their starters. The Mets could soon become suitors for Manny Ramirez. source MLBTR
