I can't help it, I know he's not the same player and he's probably closer to 45 y/o instead of his listed 35 y/o. But I still keep hoping that Fonzy finds his stroke enough to serve as the veteran leader off the bench, like Julio Franco did in 2006. Last year Fonzy played in the independent league with the Long Island Ducks and hit .329 in 59 games as the short stop. Fonzy was one of my favorite Mets, he played 2B/SS/3B with them from 1995-2002 in which he maintained a BA of .288 but in four seasons hit over .300, in 24 post season games for them he hit .255. I know he's not coming back but I just felt like giving an update .......
An MRI exam today on Mets left fielder Daniel Murphy showed a Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring, an injury that will cause Murphy to sit out his planned participation in the Puerto Rican winter league. source NY Post
I spoke to a front office guy yesterday that said, "if they leave Bowman unprotected, I'm grabbing him" so they better not do a Jesus Flores here...source Gotham Baseball Magazine forums
