2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Dan Murphy played second base and hit second in the order, Murph went 2-4 with a run scored and a sac fly RBI while striking out twice.

Shawn Bowman who was a rising star at one point but had his career stalled due to significant injuries is back on track. Bowman played third base and went 2-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Jason Vargas missed the entire season after hip surgery, in returning to action last night he pitched a scoreless inning allowing three hits.

Tobi Stoner earned the win going two innings in which he allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out two.
