2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Burgos in trouble again....

Well for those who thought Amby Burgos might be one of the answers to the pen, you can forget about it, he has much bigger issues then whether his elbow will rebound or he can find the plate. On Sept. 8th Burgos was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend. That incident made it iffy as to whether he would ever pitch for the Mets again, an organization that has become extremely image sensitive since their wild days in the 80s-90s. I thought their desperation for relief help may have made them over look this incident depending on the outcome and if it was an isolated incident. Not that Assault isn't serious but things have become much more serious for the troubled reliever, the Daily News is reporting that he was involved in a fatal hit and run accident in which two pedestrians were killed and he was allegedly the driver. Burgos is also reported to be wanted on weapons changes......

Josefina Minaya Martínez, 38, and Angely Faña, 29, were killed in the crash, the Dominican paper El Nacional reported.

Witnesses told cops that Burgos was driving the Jeep and he later turned himself in for questioning. He is also wanted for a gun possession charge. Source Daily News
