Jon Heyman of SI.com is reporting that the Mets will move quick to extend Jerry Manuel. I agree with this move, Manuel did a very good job as the Mets manager and with all the injuries, along with the early season distractions he had them over achieving. The fact that they had a chance to make the playoffs on the last day of the season is amazin after starting the season 34-35. This weekend falls on the offenses inability to score more then five runs, the manager made good moves, the rotation did their job and even the pen only allowed two runs in the last game. If Omar chooses to stay with the same core of position players and they have a disappointing this will fall on him not the manager this time....."I told Jerry we're going to have a decision sooner rather than later,'' general manager Omar Minaya said. 'He's done a very good job, and we're going to sit down and talk about it.'' source SI.com
2009 Mets Battle cry
“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog
