Castillo back, who goes....

Tonight was the long awaited return of Ryan Church and he was immediately involved in the outcome of the game. It was Church who singled in front of Brian Schneider, who has suddenly found his power stroke and hit a two run homer. In a game of dueling Aces, it was those two runs along with the common first inning tandem of Reyes and Wright who made the difference in the game. As expected Robinson Cancel was demoted to make room for Church.

Luis Castillo preformed well enough today in his try out that Jerry Manuel proclaimed that he would be activated and start tomorrow nights game. It's not as clear who will be sent down to make room for Castillo. Manuel did narrow it down to A. Reyes, Nick Evans and Brian Stokes. My guess is that it will A. Reyes, the team likes how the two young outfielders are helping each other adjust and they already need Stokes' spot for Al Reyes, who needs to be called up before Aug. 31. A. Reyes would be down for only eight days and they could use the DL to get him on the playoff roster, if they make the playoffs and want him on the team..........
Manuel's most logical choices are Reyes, a rookie, or relief pitcher Brian Stokes, who the Mets recently claimed off waivers. The Mets are currently carrying 12 pitchers. Rookie outfielders Nick Evans and Daniel Murphy could also be optioned, but Manuel seems intent on letting the pair platoon in left due to their recent and remarkable success. source SNY.tv
