2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

"Don't feel sorry for the Metropolitans." - Alex Cora, yelling what seems to have become his motto for this team : source NJ.Com

More on the lefty relief market

The Mets really appear to want a left handed reliever, last night I posted a report on several relievers the Star Ledger learned the Mets were interested in.

Today Matt Cerrone of Metsblog discussing the same article made a good point that Arthur Rhodes is playoff tested which might make him more appealing.

Also MLBTR reported today that Jon Heyman linked the Mets to Scott Downs. Downs is a 32 y/o left handed reliever who has posted an ERA of 1.54 in 46 innings with 40 SO and only 18 walks.

Finally Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Mets could have Brian Fuentes for Aaron Heilman, which is a deal i would have already made if true......

It is believed the Mets could nab Fuentes if they were willing to part with the talented but frustrating Aaron Heilman. Says one scout, "Fuentes is throwing really great. He'd help someone, if the Rockies trade him.'' source SI.com

What does this mean for our bullpen...
Has Pedro Feliciano become that unreliable that he could be demoted.....

Is Show being considered in a trade package.....
Would the Mets actually want to go with three righties ( Heilman, Smith, Sanchez) and four lefties ( Wags, Show, Feliciano, PTNL) with Muniz being demoted or Muniz if Heilman goes in a package......
