2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Mets out lasting the competition again......

The Mets won the Johan Santana sweepstakes by waiting out the competition, now it seems like they're attempting the same tactic again in acquiring an outfielder. There's no way Omar isn't in the market for an outfielder, regardless of saying he likes his role players or will promote from within. Allegedly Raul Ibanez is at the top of the Mets shopping list and within the last 24 hrs their main competition have acquired other players. The D-Backs traded for Tony Clark and moved Connor Jackson to left field, Arizona is a small market team and Ibanez has a pretty big contract which may have taken them out of the running. The Yankees have all the money in the world but do they have the room on the roster after signing Richie Sexson. I'm not sure if Ibanez is the answer since he's another lefty but if the Mets want him they maybe successfully out lasting the competition.....

The market for pitching is strong, and there are at least three teams – the Mets, Diamondbacks and Yankees – who would love to acquire outfielder Raul IbaƱez. Source The Tacoma News Tribune
