2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Boras thinks Nady will be moved.......

Super Agent Scott Boras believes two of his clients who play for the Pirates will be moved prior to the trade deadline. Lefthanded relief pitcher Damaso Marte and OF Xavier Nady have been rumored to be on the move for quite sometime and now their agent agrees that they will be traded. In regard to Nady he's eligible for free agency after the 2009 season and players have more value with the extra year. Frank Della Femina of the Star Ledger originally reported on the Post-Gazette story and went on to say Jon Niese "is a name thrown around in recent trade rumors". Niese is projected as a back-end of the rotation starter and if we could keep F-Mart with Niese as the center piece along with several lower level prospects I do it in a minute, my contention has always been that Nady will cost too much..........

The more likely reason the Pirates would trade Nady, Boras added, is that they have two young outfielders, Nate McLouth and prospect Andrew McCutchen, who probably will play every day next season. That leaves room for one more, which would be Jason Bay. source Pittsburgh post-Gazette
