2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Bases loaded one out who gets the ground ball.....Bradford

The Orioles will be looking to shed some of their veteran salary as the trade deadline approaches. Many people point to Xavior Nady's bat as the difference between the '06' roster and now, but Chad Bradford was just as key to that teams success. Bradford was a lock to come in with runners in scoring position and induce a ground ball. Omar wasn't willing to go three years with a contract due to his history of back problems but he's now a year and a half into it and still pitching well. Bradford would be a solid addition to the pen, he has 12 holds with a 2.76 ERA in 39 gms.

As the Orioles continue to dance around .500, their interest in unloading players -- even veteran players -- seems to diminish by the day. Once upon a time, for instance, they traded for George Sherrill with the thought of spinning him before the deadline. Six months later, says an executive of one club, "they told us they're not motivated to move him now." There are still a few random pieces for sale -- Chad Bradford and Kevin Millar, for instance. But finishing .500 has never felt more important in Baltimore than it seems to feel this year. source ESPN.com - Jayson Stark
