With the acquistion of Reed Johnson the Cubs have a log jam in the outfield, looking over a few of the Cubs blogs comment sections many fans are extremely upset with signing because it completely blocks talented young prospect Matt Murton. This immediately lead to speculation that Murton was available for pitching help. The Cubs are in need of bullpen help but giving up a top prospect like Murton, log jam or not is going to cost an elite set-up man. Since Alou went down the Mets have been linked to every right handed outfielder that's been available or at least rumored to be available. In fact there was alot of debate as to whether Johnson would have been a good fit for the Mets. I'm satisfied with Clark and Pagan, whats out there is basically the equivalent to them in the DaVanon and Rivera's of the world. A true up-grade like Nady or even Murton would just cost too much......
Mets - Could make sense for a team thinking about running Fernando Tatis out in left. Longer-term, Murton could be an oft-used fourth outfielder, spelling Moises Alou and Ryan Church. source MLBTR

If I wouldn't give him up for Thames I wouldn't for Murton.
The Cubs are looking for a lefty anyway not a righty.
