2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Several looking at Mench

I think Kevin Mench would be the final piece to the positional players portion of the 25 man roster. He's a right handed hitter with power who has become accustom to platooning in the outfield. Mench would allow Easley to focus on strickly being the utility infielder, the team already has enough defense and speed for Mench to take a spot on the bench. Things have been very quiet in regards to Mench until today, now there are reports that both the Rangers and Yanks are interested in him on minor league deals. It would be easy enough for Omar to beat a minor league deal, so it appears that he's not interested...........

The Rangers have discussed bringing OF Kevin Mench to camp on a non-roster invitation. Mench could contend with Jason Botts and Nelson Cruz to be a right-handed-hitting backup outfielder. ... source Dallas News

The Yankees have interest in free agent Kevin Mench as a fifth outfielder, according to a person with knowledge of discussions who asked not to be named because no deal has been struck. Mench, 30, would probably go to Yankees camp on a minor-league contract source
