I'll be honest at the end of the 2006 season I was glad that Cliff Floyd was leaving, as a starter he missed too much time and then was a slow starter. The funny thing is that I praised the team for acquiring Moises Alou who misses just as much time, the biggest difference is Alou hits right off the bat. Then Floyd made his comments about his game seven pinch hit situation and I was done with him, but I guess time heals all wounds because the thought of Floyd on the bench or platooning doesn't seem like such a bad idea. The Mets need to replace Green's lefty bat off the bench and they need to try to rest Alou, so maybe Cliff would be a good fit. He was liked by many players and was a good clubhouse presence. Floyd became a free agent last night when the Cubs declined his option.
Floyd, 34, who talked in September about retiring, said he plans to keep playing and has told his agent to reach out to every major-league team. source Chicago-Sun Times

I would love to see Cliff Floyd back. Last night I watched a replay on SNY of the the game in 2005 when Floyd hit the game winning homerun in the bottom of the 10th against the Angels. (you know the one, lol) I always like Floyd and bringing him back in a reserve role would be good insurance if Alou gets hurt, and would be a nice power bat off the bench.
