2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

And now he's the side Show

Scott Schoeneweis had finally made it out of the dog house and the lefty was becoming appreciated out of the pen. "Show" had really turned it up a notch during the stretch run and was one of the only relievers who could be relied upon. Chad Braford was a very popular fixture in the 2006 bull pen and it was perceived that Schoeneweis took Bradford's contract. So he wasn't popular from the beginning and when he got off to a rough start his relationship with the fans went down hill fast. But over the season it leaked out that he was playing through a knee injury, by the end of the season he was either accustom to compensating for the injury, the knee finally healed or he is just a big game pitcher ( he does have a ring from the 02 Angels).

Eddie C. from the WFAN reported today that Schoeneweis was the only player who acknowledged the totality of the collapse. Paraphrasing, no matter what we do this will be with us for the rest of our careers...

So just when I was comfortable with "Show's" pitching and clubhouse personality a report comes out tonight from ESPN that Schoeneweis received shipments of steroids......

Scott Schoeneweis, the veteran New York Mets reliever and a survivor of testiticular cancer, received six steroid shipments from Signature Pharmacy while playing for the Chicago White Sox in 2003 and 2004, ESPN has learned. source ESPN.com
