2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Sosa to the pen

Last night during the 14 inning loss Jorge Sosa pitched two scoreless innings of relief. It appears that it wasn't an aberration, Sosa will be coming out of the pen. As the Mets try to find a set-up man after not acquiring one at the trade dealine, Sosa has been moved into the pen as a reliever. In two scoreless innings last night Sosa struck out one, walked two and did not allow a hit.

Jorge Sosa, scheduled to pitch Thursday afternoon, came on in relief in the ninth – with Willie Randolph revealing afterward that Sosa would not start. He survived two innings, and gave way to Aaron Sele who pitched a pair of scoreless innings. By the 13th inning, the Brewers were trotting out Dave Bush - who was listed as today's starter. And in the bottom of the 13th, Sele finally gave in, surrendering a leadoff double to Tony Graffanino and then a game-winning two-run, walkoff homer to Geoff Jenkins. source Bergen Record
