2009 Mets Battle cry

“It takes more than five superstars to win a World Series. Tonight was a total team effort. Stokes comes in, in that situation, and gets the best hitter in baseball to hit in to a double play. That’s what it’s going to take, you know. Fernando Martinez gets on a plane, shows up in the seventh, and gets a bunt down… Murphy hits a home run. You know, it’s a total team effort. If you’re gonna talk about team wins, tonight was a great example and that’s what we need to do.” : source Metsblog

Bommer an option

How would Omar like to have David "Boomer" Wells as his fifth pitcher. Talk about a big gamer and play-off experience, along with putting a thorn in "George's" side, all of which would occur with one signing. Boomer wore out his welcome in San Diego, between his constant fights with the commissioners office and four bad outings in a row. Once he clears waivers the Mets are on the short list of teams he'd play for, while he carry's a 5.58 ERA and a record of 5-8, his playoff resume is 10-5 with a 3.17 ERA. I wonder if Omar will look at him in the same light as El Duque. Oh, by the way Well's agent is also Glavine's who has been very happy with the way Omar treats his clients.

Wells would like to keep pitching for a contender, according to his agent, Gregg Clifton. There's an outside chance that once Wells clears waivers, another NL West team (Arizona or Los Angeles) could come calling."I wouldn't say he'd play for anyone," Clifton said, "but if it was a team that could win -- the Mets, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, etc. -- he would strongly consider it." source Boston.com
